Chief Interchange Car Inspectors' and Car Foremen's Association
The Chief Interchange Car Inspectors' and Car Foremen's Association was a professional association of railroad car-department personnel, specifically the chief car inspectors and car foremen responsible for inspecting freight cars at interchange points and supervising car-repair forces. Founded in 1901, it is the earliest named form of the professional body now known as the Railcar Technical Services Association (RTSA).
The organization was renamed several times over the following decades as its scope broadened and it merged with related car-department groups. For the full naming history and current activities, see the entry for Railcar Technical Services Association (RTSA).
