Car Department Officers Association

The Car Department Officers' Association was a professional association of railroad car-department officers, the supervisory and technical personnel responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of railcars. The organization existed under this name beginning in 1930 as one stage in the long history of the professional body now known as the Railcar Technical Services Association (RTSA).

The association traces its lineage back to 1901 and carried several names over the years as it merged with and absorbed related car-department groups. For the full naming history and the organization's current activities, see the entry for Railcar Technical Services Association (RTSA).
