Association Of Car Accounting and Car Services Officers (ACACSO)
The Association of Car Accounting and Car Services Officers (ACACSO) is an industry organization whose objective is to promote methods and rules by which the handling of railroad freight cars, trailers, and containers can be improved, together with the maintenance of the related records and accounts.
The association brings together the railroad officers responsible for car accounting and car-service functions, the work of tracking where equipment is, managing its movement and utilization, and maintaining the records used to account for cars while they are away from home in interchange service. These functions are closely tied to the data systems and equipment registries that the industry relies on, including those operated by Railinc, and to the per diem and car-hire arrangements by which railroads compensate one another for the use of foreign cars.
By developing improved methods and rules in this field, ACACSO supports the accuracy and efficiency of car accounting across the North American network, helping railroads keep proper records of the equipment moving over their lines.
