Equipment ID

An "equipment ID" consists of a reporting mark (aka, "equipment initial") and a number between 1 and 999999, inclusive. The initial & number combination must be unique within North America, but otherwise the mark owner may assign any number they wish.

An equipment ID is typically referred to as a "car ID" or "car initial & number" when used in the context of cars.
