Horizontal Wear Liner

A horizontal wear liner is a heat treated steel disc that protects the bolster bowl from wear caused by the body center plate. Available in various thicknesses, multiple wear liners may be used to adjust clearance between center plate and bolster bowl rim.

Caution: Horizontal Wear Liners must not be confused with bolster bowl shims, which have a very similar appearance but are not heat treated and are no longer acceptable for use on freight cars in North America.
