AAR Interchange Rules

The rules governing the interchange of freight cars among all freight railroads, interchange freight car owners, and running repair agents (collectively "subscribers").

These rules of freight cars in North America are divided into two manuals - the Field Manual and the Office Manual. There are additional specifications and standards that apply to the manufacture and repair of freight car components in the AAR Manual of Standards and Recommended Practices (MSRP).
